Description

A strong smelling gum-resin obtained from the roots of perennial plants, Opopanax chironium, native to Asia Minor and the Balkans. Opopanax dries to forms yellow or reddish lumps or tears. Most opopanax resin sold today is obtained from trees of the Commiphora species (i.e. Myrrh), such as C. kataf, and C.erythraea.
