Description
The acclimatization of a material to a specific environment. A material is conditioned by placing it in a prescribed environment for a stipulated period of time to allow the temperature and moisture content of the material to reach an equilibrium. For many physical stress and strength tests, a material must be conditioned prior to the test to minimize potential internal strains. In the U.S., standard atmospheric conditions for most tests are considered to be 50% RH and 73 degrees Fahrenheit.
