Lead naphthenate is use as a Drier in oil paints and varnishes to speed the polymerization and oxidation processes. For use in oil paints lead naphthenate is usually mixed with cobalt or manganese drier otherwise it may eventually leach out of the paint. It is also used as a wood preservative and an Insecticide.
