Carrageen moss

Description

A small brown seaweed, Chondrus crispus, that grows in North Atlantic and is collected on the beaches of Ireland, Great Britain, Northern European countries, Nova Scotia, Massachusetts and other New England States. A water-soluble polysaccharide, called Carrageenan, is extracted from the moss with boiling water.
