Uemura's notes | When mordanted with ash water, the dyed color would become more yellow. There is another species of Yamakuwa called Tsumi (). In the Honzo koumoku (), Chinese manuscript from the 16th century AD, it is said that Tsumi is Tsugekuwa (), which is different from Yamakuwa. It was also not certain whether Japanese Kuwa tree is actually the same as Tsumi (). |
