Description
A condition in which the absorbed moisture of a material is in equilibrium with the relative humidity of the surrounding environment. At the point of moisture equilibrium a material is no longer absorbing or desorbing water vapor. Thus its weight and dimensions are stable. The amount of moistutre in a material at equilibrium is called its equilibrium moisture content (EMC) and is expressed as the weight/weight percentage (w/w%) of water in a material versus the materials' total original (non-dried) weight.
