== Description ==

A thermoplastic resin which is similar to [http://cameo.mfa.org/materials/fullrecord.asp?name=rubber, natural natural rubber]. Polybutadiene is made by the polymerization of 1,3-butadiene with a stereospecific organometallic catalyst in order to obtain the cis isomer. Polybutadiene has good wear and crack resistance. It is used in tire treads and as a coating. It is often blended with [http://cameo.mfa.org/materials/fullrecord.asp?name=styrene styrene] to form [http://cameo.mfa.org/materials/fullrecord.asp?name=styrene-butadiene rubber SBR] and blended with styrene and [http://cameo.mfa.org/materials/fullrecord.asp?name=acrylonitrile acrylonitrile] to form [http://cameo.mfa.org/materials/fullrecord.asp?name=acrylonitrile butadiene styrene resin ABS] rubbers.
