Description
The movement of acidic ions from one material or region to another. Acid migration may occur via contact as well as vapor transfer. For example, an acidic mat board in contact with a previously nonacidic paper may transfer ions, resulting in mat burn. Additionally, some materials may emit volatile Acid gases (pollutants) that can react with nearby objects.
