Description
A yellow liquid with a strong Sulfur dioxide odor. Calcium bisulfite is only known in solution. It is prepared by saturating Calcium carbonate with Sulfurous acid or by bubbling sulfur dioxide through a Calcium hydroxide solution. Calcium hydrogen sulfite is used in the manufacturing of paper pulp to dissolve Lignin and as a Scavenger for chlorine. It is also used as a bleach, Preservative, and Disinfectant.
