Description
[American Can Co.] A registered trademark for a stretchable plastic film. Parafil®m M is composed primarily of polyolefins and wax paraffin wax without any added plasticizers. It is a self-sealing, moldable, film that is permeable to Oxygen and dioxide carbon dioxide. Parafilm® M is used as a liquid and moisture barrier film for short term storage. It has also been used as a temporary supporting strip for ivory (Weisser 1978).

Other Properties
Slightly soluble in carbon tetrachloride. Insoluble in ethanol, water. Unaffected by acids, alkalis for up to 48 hours.
For a 1 mil film: Oxygen transmission = 150 ml/m2d; Water vapor transmission = 3-4 g/m2d
