Description

A material that increases the strength of an adhesive bond. As in the case of a primer, it may be applied to a substrate prior to adhesion. For some adhesives and coatings, adhesion promoters are added directly to the uncured matrix to assist in the formation of primary bonds between the substance and substrate during curing. Examples include silanes, maleic acid, bis(trimethylsilyl)amine, copper naphthenate, vinyltriethoxysilane, ethylene/acrylic acid.
