Sockeye Salmon

Description

Processed skin from salmon, species Oncorhynchus, native to the northern Pacific regions. Salmon skins were used for clothing, footwear, and waterproof covers for windows, boats, and sleds (Kite 1999). The skins were probably prepared by oil tanning using brains and fish eggs.
