Description

[Sigma Chemical] A registered trademark for a buffer mixture. Trizma® is contains a basic material, tris, and its corresponding acid salt, tris-HCl. An equal mixture of the two materials in an aqueous solution gives a stable pH of 7.8. Trizma® is also used as an emulsifying agent.

Note: tris is short for tris(hydroxymethyl)aminomethane.
