Description
[BNZ Corp.] A registered trademark for a series of fiber cement boards. Transite® is made by pressure molding a mixture of portland cement, water and non-asbestos fibers. The boards are resistant to temperature, water, chemicals and corrosion. They can be machined with minimal powdering or chipping. Older Transite® boards, made before 1980, contained asbestos. The fire resistant boards were used in walls and ceilings and occasionally used as a support for painting (Mayer 1969).
