Patent Yellow in dispersion, XPL, 1000x. Mounted in Cargille Meltmount RI = 1.662.

Wide-angle XRD (Univ. of Delaware) confirmed the presence of Lorettoite (Pb7O6Cl2) in this sample.

This sample was taken from a drum in the Colonial Williamsburg Collection (1957-29). Other pigments in the dispersion include lead white, red lead, and vermilion. Examined with a Nikon Eclipse NiU upright microscope, digital images captured with Nikon DS-Ri1 camera and Nikon NIS Elements BR software v.5.20.01.
