Description
A soft lump or dish of pigment bound with a water soluble binder such as Gum tragacanth. The pastel-type media is applied using a stump or stumping chalk. Crayon sauce was common as a 19th century art material (Mayer 1969). It is still made by a Russian manufacturer,Yarka.
