Description
A small tree, Ziziphus spina-christi, native to arid regions of Palestine and Africa. Sidder trees have barbed branches and produce an edible yellowish fruit. The wood is hard and durable but the branches are narrow. Sidder timber was used in ancient Egypt for dowels, boats, coffins, and small items (Gale et al 2000).
