Tarlatan
Description
A starched, plain-weave, open-mesh fabric, usually made from cotton. Tarlatan fabrics are used for stiffening garment sections, and lining spines of books. Additionally, a carefully folded tarlatan sheet is used to remove excess ink from the surface of an intaglio plate or lithography stone prior to printing.
