Description
A thermoplastic copolymer of tetrafluoroethylene and hexafluoropropylene. The properties of FEP resin are similar to other fluorinated polymers, such as Teflon (polytetrafluoroethylene), in that they are resistant to chemicals. The main difference is that FEP is thermoplastic and can be extruded and molded. It is available as a powder, aqueous dispersion, film and monofilament fiber. FEP is used for wire insulation, linings, and nonsticking finishes. Felt fabrics from FEP filaments are used for filtration.
