Duchesse lace

Description

A popular, inexpensive, bobbin lace made in motif sections with raised worked patterns that were joined with thread bars. From about 1840-1900, duchesse lace, named after the duchess of Brabant, was primarily made in Bruges and in many Belgium convents.
