Description
A water thinned protein-based paint that dries to a water resistant film. Glue temperas use casein or gelatin often as an emulsion mixed with oil. These paints dry to a semi-matt appearance by the evaporation of water. Glycerine or other humectants were often added to reduce cracking. Formalin was sometimes added to produce a hard insoluble film.
