Potsdam sandstone

Description
A hard, dense reddish color sandstone quarried near Potsdam in St. Lawrence County, New York. Potsdam sandstone is composed of quartz grains cemented with a siliceous material. It varies in color from a light pink to a reddish brown. It was primarily used for buildings.
