Description

Wool that is removed from slaughtered sheep. Skin wool that is loosened using a depilatory of lime or sodium sulfide is called slipe wool (Cook 1984). Once the depilatory loosens the wool, it is pulled away without damaging the hide. The wool can also be loosened by bacterial action. This type of skin wool is called Mazamet wool. Skin wool is considered inferior to clip wool.
