UVS Finishing Varnish
Description
[Conservator's Products, Chatham NJ] A trademark for a varnish based of Regalrez 1094, a hydrogenated oligomer of styrene and alpha-methyl styrene. UVS Finishing and Matte varnishes were originally developed by G.Berger and G. Chludzincki. The early formulations, sold from 1991, were based on Escorez 5380. In 1996, the formulation was changed to Regalrez 1094 (30%) in a petroleum solvent mixed with an ethylene vinyl acetate type plasticizer (<5%). It dries to a clear, glossy film.
Other Properties
Soluble in turpentine and aromatic hydrocarbons. Insoluble in water, ethanol, acetone, isopropanol.
