Description
An alcoholic solution containing 7% iodine and 5% iodide potassium iodide. Tincture of iodine is a reddish brown liquid that is used as an antiseptic and as a reagent for the detection of starch.

Solution: Add 70g iodine and 50 g potassium iodide to 50 ml water. Dilute to 1 liter with ethanol.
Hazards and Safety
Toxic by ingestion.Skin contact causes irritation.
