Bristlecone pine

Description
A slow-growing pine, Pinus aristata, native to the western United States. Bristlecone pines grow for thousands of years and are the oldest known living trees. Tree ring samples obtained from bristlecone pines have provided calibration samples for dating carbon 14 dating charts.
