Description
A method used to deposit fine particles of gold on the surface of silver (Savage 1954). The first step in cold gilding is to dissolve gold in regia aqua regia. The solution is soaked into a cloth, then the cloth is burned. The ashes contain very tiny particles of gold. As the ashes are rubbed on the surface of the silver, the gold is deposited.
