Description

A transparent glass that contains no silica. Phosphate glass contains phosphorus pentoxide (P2O5). An example of phosphate glass is aluminum-metaphosphate. Developed by American Optical Company, phosphate glass is resistant to hydrofluoric acid and fluorine chemicals. They are,however, soluble in water and decomposed by alkalis.
