Brinell hardness test

Description
A method for testing the hardness of a metal. With the Brinell hardness test, a steel ball (one centimeter in diameter) is pressed into the surface of the metal with a standard force. The size of the indentation is measured and compared to tables of hardness numbers provide by the instrument manufacturer.
