Description

The common name for a fossil-filled limestone quarried in the Catskill Mountains of New York (Lent 1925). Catskill Marble is a dark brown color with numerous shell patterns. The hard dense stone polishes well. It was primarily used in engineering works before the quarry ceased operations in the early 20th century.
