India rubber

Description

A name used prior to the nineteenth century for raw rubber. India rubber is currently called caoutchouc. Caoutchouc is a yellowish elastic material obtained from the latex of various tropical plants of the genera Hevae and Ficus. The term India rubber now refers to a soft, crumbly rubber eraser.
