Flexural strength

Description
The maximum amount of an orthogonal load that a material can withstand before breaking. When a sample is placed horizontally and the load is directed vertically, the flexural strength is a measurement of the amount of deflection that occurs for a given load per length of sample. Thus, the flexural strength measures a material's ability to flex rather than break under a given load.
