Description

A class of thermosetting polyester resins made from ally alcohol and a dibasic acid. Allyl resins are resistant to chemicals, moisture and abrasion in addition to good dimensional stability over a wide temperature range. Examples are diallyl phthalate, diallyl isophthalate, diallyl maleate, and diallyl chlorendate. Allyl resins are used in adhesives and coatings, laminated materials, casting and molding compounds, heat-resistant varnishes, encapsulation of electronic components, and as a shellac substitute.
