Soilax

Description

[Economics Laboratory] A trademark for a cleaning product containing trisodium phosphate. Soilax was created by Leonard H. Englund when he discovered it worked better than ordinary soap in the mechanical dishwashers restaurants are beginning to use. With its launch, sets the company on course to become a leader in warewashing. Soilax was one of the first colored detergents ever developed. In dry form, it is pink. When mixed with water in the proper proportion, the solution turns green. If too much Soilax is added, it turns yellow, a warning the solution is too strong. Soilax (Tm) was also marketed as a wall washing and paint cleaning compound prior to WW II.

Soilax was discontinued in 2005 and replaced with Soilmax. SoilMax is advertised for cleaning walls, washable wallpaper, woodwork and floors without rinsing.

As of 2022, neither product appeared on Ecolab webpages.
