Description
Colorless, waxy compound. Stearamide is commonly used as a release agent on the surface of plastic bags (e.g., Ziploc®) to prevent the sides from sticking together. Small amounts of stearamide can readily transfer to the surface of any material placed inside the bags.

Physical and Chemical Properties
Soluble in chloroform, methylene chloride. Slightly soluble in ethanol, ether. Insoluble in water.
