Description
For wood, a tangential cut follows the longitudinal grain of the tree with the cut made as a tangent to a growth ring. Tangential cuts on a cake would produce a set of parallel, vertical slices starting from one edge to the other, where the edge cut piece are much smaller than the center cut pieces. Tree growth rings are often seen as a series of arches in tangential cuts.
