Description

The region of the electromagnetic spectrum (500 - 20 cm-1; 20 - 500 micrometers) that falls between the mid-IR and the microwave region. The far infrared (far-IR) region is well suited to the study of organometallic or inorganic compounds. It is useful in the identification and differentiation of many minerals and colorants.
