Description
A BON type organic red azo-type colorant. Permanent Red 2B is the metal salt of the product of BON (3-hydroxy-2-naphthoic acid) combined with 1-amino-3-chloro-4-methylbenzenesulfonic acid (2B acid). First synthesized in the 1920s, Permanent Red 2B has fair lightfastness. It is used as the standard process red by the Gravure Technical Association in the U.S.
