Description
A soft, clear yellowish material that is prepared by adding Lead nitrate to a solution of sodium naphthenate. Lead naphthenate is a liquid at 16% lead and a solid at 37% lead. Lead naphthenate is use as a Drier in oil paints and varnishes to speed the polymerization and oxidation processes. For use in oil paints lead naphthenate is usually mixed with cobalt or manganese drier otherwise it may eventually leach out of the paint. It is also used as a wood preservative and an Insecticide.
