Description

A thin, rigid board that can be made of plastic, foamboard, pressed board, or corrugated paper. A backing board is placed in the back of frames to protect pictures, mirrors, and documents. Backing boards are also used for partitions in furniture. An often confused term, backboard, refers to the solid matboard used behind a matted work of art on paper.
