Description
A dicyclic terpene obtained from tree exudates such as turpentine. Alpha pinene is a colorless transparent liquid that is used as a solvent for coatings, polishes, and waxes. It is also used for the synthesis of camphene, camphor, and terpineol.

Soluble in ethanol, chloroform, ether.Insoluble in water.
