== Description ==

A thermoplastic polymer made by the condensation of [http://cameo.mfa.org/materials/fullrecord.asp?name=Paradichlorobenzene p-dichlorobenzene] and [http://cameo.mfa.org/materials/fullrecord.asp?name=sodium sulfide sodium sulfide].  Polyphenylene sulfide, or PPS, will not dissolve in any organic solvent at temperatures under 200 C.  PPS is often glass reinforced and made into molded parts for connectors, housings, and pump bodies.  It is occasionally used as a fiber in protective clothing, although it is stiff and has a low moisture regain.

== Synonyms and Related Terms ==
