Uemura's notes According to Dr. Shirai, an alternative name for Someshiba is Hai-no-ki (). According to Dr. Makino, an alternative name for the same plant is Kurobai (), and an alternative name for Hai-no-ki () is Isu-no-ki (), which is a different species. In addition to these, there is also another Isu-no-ki, which does not belong to the Hai-no-ki family, but belongs to the Kinrubai family ().
