Papier mâché

Photograph of a broken table leg under Ultraviolet light. Note orange fluorescence caused by resin (shellac) which was used as an original component to strengthen papier mâché. Two papier mâché boards have been glued together. The glue layer shows light yellowish fluorescence and is indicated here by the arrows. Additionaly, there is a significant amount of white fluorescence between the papier mâché boards and the wooden leg which resulted from recently used PVAc adhesive.
