Description
A hygroscopic, white, water-soluble powder that is formed by the action of Acetic acid on Magnesium carbonate. Magnesium acetate has been used as either an aqueous and alcoholic based neutralizing/alkalizing agent in paper treatments although it has the potential for adversely affecting Lead and Silver components (Paper Catalog). Magnesium acetate is used industrially as a dye fixative in textile printing and as a Disinfectant.
