This color should be what was called "Aka murasaki (赤紫)" in the Nihon-shoki (日本書紀), 720 AD ; "Ebizome (葡萄)" in the Ebukuryo (衣服令), the 8th century AD; and "Murasaki-sou (紫艸)" in the Hitachi fudoki (常陸風土記), 721 AD.
