Uemura's notes If the amount of ash water would be less during the dyeing process, the resultant color would be more red. This color should be what was called "Aka murasaki ()" in the Nihon-shoki (), 720 AD ; "Ebizome ()" in the Ebukuryo (), the 8th century AD; and "Murasaki-sou ()" in the Hitachi fudoki (), 721 AD.
