Description
A common name for several varieties of dense heavy wood. Common types are:
- Canadian ironwood (Ostrya virgniana)
- Ceylon ironwood or Gangaw (Mesua ferrea): red, used for furniture, dyes
- East Indian ironwood
- South African blackwood (Dalbergia melanoxylon)
