Description

1) A soft, absorbent Cotton or Linen Flannel cloth used for baby diapers. Diaper cloth may be may in any of several types of weave including plain, twill, knit, or bird's eye.

2) Originally a high quality fabric of linen or silk woven in a small diamond-shaped pattern. During the Middle Ages, it was made in Belgium (Tortora and Merkel, 1996). The term is now used generically for any fabric with a bird's eye weave.
