Picture putty

Description

A stiff, hard putty that was formerly used by conservators for filling holes in paintings (Mayer 1969). Picture putty was made with Stand oil and Chalk. When needed, a Cobalt drier or pigments were also added. Picture putty is stiffer than window putty.
